The Caledonia Corvairs have made two roster moves ahead of the 2025–26 season, continuing to retool their lineup with an eye toward long-term growth and short-term success.
The first move brings 2006-born forward Nathan Marincola to Caledonia from the St. Thomas Stars in exchange for a Player Development Fee. Marincola is no stranger to the ups and downs of junior hockey. His journey through the ranks has helped shape him into a more complete player — and someone the Corvairs believe can thrive in the right environment.
“Nathan has been through the highs and lows of junior hockey, and we believe he’ll bring great character to our room from those experiences,” said Corvairs General Manager Jake MacNeil. “He’s got a ton of offensive upside, and we feel his skill set fits perfectly within our systems and style of play. In a situation better set up for success, we truly believe Nathan can be a big piece in our push — especially with his own goal being to win something in junior hockey.”
Known for his offensive instincts and work ethic, Marincola adds depth and competition to a forward group that’s being rebuilt with pace, creativity, and grit in mind. The organization is confident that with structure, opportunity, and confidence, Marincola has the tools to make a real impact in Caledonia.
Shortly after completing the Marincola deal, the Corvairs announced the departure of defenceman Gavin McAfee-Rankine, who has been traded to the Hamilton Kilty B’s in exchange for a Player Development Fee.
McAfee-Rankine, a steady presence on the back end, brought a reliable and physical edge to the Corvairs blue line during his time in Caledonia. His move to Hamilton gives him a chance to continue his development in a familiar setting and take on a fresh opportunity with another strong program.
“We’d like to thank Gavin for his time and commitment to the Corvairs program,” MacNeil said. “He’s a player who brought consistency and work ethic every time he hit the ice. We’re happy to see him get a new opportunity close to home and wish him all the best with the Kilty B’s.”
With these moves, the Corvairs continue to shape a roster that balances potential with experience, bringing in players hungry to compete while also providing a fresh start for those ready to take the next step elsewhere.
