Michael Derbidge Returns to Caledonia

Caledonia, Ontario – June 20, 2025 – The Caledonia Corvairs are excited to announce that forward Michael Derbidge will return to Caledonia for the 2025–26 season. Derbidge, a 20-year-old left winger from Holland Landing, Ontario, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Corvairs’ lineup.

Derbidge began his junior hockey career with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he played 38 games during the 2021–22 season. He then spent time with the Stouffville Spirit of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) and the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). In the 2023–24 season, he joined the Barrie Colts of the OHL, recording 5 goals and 9 assists in 32 games. He also made a brief stop with the Corvairs, contributing 5 goals and 4 assists in 9 games.

In the 2024–25 season, Derbidge played 44 games for the Barrie Colts, tallying 5 goals and 6 assists. He also appeared in 13 playoff games, adding 3 assists to his postseason totals. His experience in the OHL and his previous tenure with the Corvairs make him a valuable asset to the team.

“Derbs is a huge addition to our roster as we push for a championship this season,” said GM Jake MacNeil. “He was a vital part of a talented Barrie Colts team that made a serious playoff run last year. His versatility—playing all over the lineup—speaks volumes about the kind of player and person he is: adaptable, reliable, and team-first. This year, Michael isn’t just looking to compete; he’s determined to be a driving force and take his game to the next level. We’re thrilled to welcome him back home and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll have on our pursuit of success.”

Derbidge is expected to be a key contributor to the Corvairs’ offense and will play a pivotal role in the team’s pursuit of the Sutherland Cup.
