Corvairs Bolster Crease with Addition of Maverick Fletcher

The Caledonia Corvairs have added depth and size to their crease with the acquisition of 2006-born goaltender Maverick Fletcher from the Iroquois Falls Storm of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL).

Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 174 pounds, Fletcher brings a composed, technical style of goaltending and enters the GOJHL with both experience and pedigree. The Sudbury native appeared in 14 games last season with Iroquois Falls, posting a .899 save percentage and one shutout. He elevated his play in the postseason, where he finished with a .923 save percentage over three starts.

Fletcher was originally selected 22nd overall by the Erie Otters in the 2023 OHL U18 Priority Selection and spent time in the Soo Jr. Greyhounds program before making the jump to Junior A.

Corvairs General Manager Jake MacNeil spoke highly of Fletcher’s mindset and the immediate impact he expects the young netminder to bring.

โ€œMaverick brings experience to our crease and to an already experienced team. He felt our team goals this season aligned perfectly with his and he wants to be part of a special group that will contend and push for a championship run. His attitude thus far shows us heโ€™s hungry to win and to showcase his skills in the crease when in the right program. We believe his ambition will be a huge addition for us as we make a run this season.โ€

Fletcher will join a veteran-laden Corvairs roster as they look to contend for a Sutherland Cup title in the upcoming season.
